THAT'S IT!

I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERF--KING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERF--KING PLANE!

I haven't laughed as much as I did at this stupid bloody game.

I mean, kudos for getting it out in a week, but OH MY GOD this is a true piece of so-bad-its-good Screamtuber bait!

Hoo boy, THAT'S an unfortunate title...

[insert your own Evangelion Classic theme song joke here, mine below:]

Played it, still hyped, still got my arse kicked (and on the easiest difficulty level, no less!)

(1 edit)

This NEEDS to be a full game.

Its short length and abrupt downer ending just left me wanting more.

It NEEDS to be made into a full game. I mean, it could be like Majora's Mask meets Alone in the Dark 1 meets The Thing. The moment I played this bad boy, I KNEW it needs so desperately to be extended into a full-length adventure. What becomes of Basidia after the infection begins? How do you fight back against such a thing? How does the story end? Is it a full Lovecraftian affair, or is there a glimmer of hope at the end? The questions race through my mind, and I hope to god the developer of this game sees the same potential in Snow of Basidia that I do.

EDIT: And what do you know? It is! The Winds of Basidia. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

IT'S RAPING TIME.

Sorry, sorry couldn't resist, especially with the knowledge that someone unofficially remade Ao Oni.

Thanks, mate. Can't wait to play this game.

Oh, and as a suggestion: Can you please add a brightness slider? The screen was too dark for my liking. Thank you.

Ow. Ow Ow. Ow ow ow ow. This is the Soulsborne of Throwback/Boomer Shooters. I would never play this for more than one level at a time.

And you know what? It's still badass.

The weapons feel satisfying, the gameplay is solid, and the art design and soundtrack are Black Metal as fuck. Basically, if you're looking for something that will test your reflexes, THIS is the game for you.

I can't blame you for putting the project on hold until after Christmas 2021. Good games take time, and although there are quite a fair number of exceptions to the rule (Notably Duke Nukem Forever), A game postponed is definitely better than a rushed one.

Death TRIPS.

Do you get it?

I played this through the Haunted PS1 Demo Disc 2021.

Going in, I was expecting something like the other games: A fun, spooky little time that can get me hyped for the full version. What I got?

Well...

....This is quite honestly, tied with Spec Ops: The Line as the most emotionally destroying videogame I've played. In fact, it might top it. Because with The Line, the characters, whilst realistic and thoroughly tragic, are still fiction. This is a true story based on the mental deterioration and loss of your friend.

I live in the UK, but I still know what depression is like. It's a disease. A disease that takes on many forms, and pushes us to the brink of death. I should know. I had it.

From 2014 to 2020, I lived the worst years of my life as a teenager. I was going through puberty, and it turned out I was autistic. During this time, I gained a horrifying depression, where I became emotionally unstable and kept on lashing out at anyone and anyTHING. I don't know WHAT caused it. Maybe it was the class I was assigned in secondary school. Maybe it was the people I was surrounded by. But as a teen, I became the very thing I despised, and I didn't know how I could stop. No matter hard I tried, things kept on getting worse.

Finally, in 2020, an incident occurred. I don't want to say what happened, but what matters is that I finally realised that I was going through depression, and eventually, I got the help I needed. But I know many other people out there aren't as lucky as I was.

Perhaps because of this, I couldn't make it past Movement III. This was a project made to honour the life of a man who fought his own battle with depression and lost. A game that delivers a message about his life and depression itself. I don't know who Charlie Schulz was in life, but if he were to see you make this game, he'd be happy that you finished it for him.

There's nothing more I can add, other than:

Rest in Peace, Charlie Schulz.

Cheers to you, Sodaraptor.

I've played the Pathogen-X demo, and I was blown away by its combination of OTS horror a la Dead Space and RE4, and traditional oldschool Survival Horror a la Resident Evil 1 - Zero and the Outbreak spin-offs.

But for the story, I'd like to ask a few suggestions for a compelling narrative:

#1 Make the regular enemies Zombies. I'm mainly asking this out of spite for the ever-growing dirge of generic action games about uber-badass warriors beating the crap out of them, so I'd really like a game that makes Zombies scary again. The hookmen can work as elite-type enemies, who both take and deal more damage.

#2 Have a unique explanation. The whole 'Science did it' thing has been done to death, so why not try something new? Maybe have it be so that the titular Pathogen is actually a voodoo disease or something.

#3 A Scientist hero. Hawk works as the protagonist of the Arcade mode, but for the main story, you need a truly memorable protagonist who can match wits with the best of them (Leon S. Kennedy, Harry Mason, Isaac Clarke, etc.). I think a Scientist as the main character could put a new spin on traditional survival horror storytelling. If we have countless tales of soldiers in peril, why not break away from that?

And that's all I have. Maybe you'd like these suggestions, maybe not, but no matter what, here's hoping you have an entertaining horror yarn for your game!
